Break from the uninspired trail meal and reach for this modern twist on chicken salad. "I loved the big, juicy hunks of meat with peas and currants, seasoned with mango and fragrant curry powder," says one tester, who rehydrated this cold-water-prep wrap on-trail in Washington's Wenatchee Mountains. "I stopped for one minute to add water to the bag so it would rehydrate while I hiked. Twenty minutes later, I sat down for a gourmet lunch." Mix in the included packet of ranch dressing to add creaminess - and an extra 11 grams of fat per serving. Great for chilly weather. BYO bread or tortilla.

We carried this as a break from peanut butter on a 12-day backpack around Mt Rainier. It was AMAZINGLY good! We just scooped it out of the pouch onto crackers and thought it was the best lunch ever!

Wow! Who brought the fresh chicken salad to the boundary waters? I DID! This chicken salad was amazing! It seriously has the flavor and texture of fresh chicken salad. I would keep this at home for a meal, or in the office. I’m buying this again!

Cold serve entrees have revolutionized my backpacking! First, they are delicious. No more having to force lasagna or chili down my throat at the end of a long day. Second, I don't have to heat water! Less gas to carry, and faster and easier to prepare, especially for those evenings when you barely have enough strength left to pitch your tent and all you want to do is collapse but you know you need calories. And third--55 grams of protein! Is this correct? That lasagna I mentioned only gives me 12 grams, and I end every multi-day trip in serious need of a cheeseburger. Cold serves are awesome.

Canoeing one fall in the interior BC, we found ourselves in a heavy downpour; using the stove was our of the question..and we were hungry. This salad came to our rescue! Cold water hydration created plump raisins and moist chicken and filled us up. We've already ordered more for a paddle in the Boundary Waters in Sept.

The cold soak meals have changed my backpacking! The curry mango chicken is delicious, and a change from forcing down some mixed nuts and jerky and a trail bar at lunch. Also a godsend at the end of a long day on the trail when I'm too tired to cook and just want to crawl into my sleeping bag--490 quick and easy calories are way more inviting than none.
