I can’t get over how good this meal is. Being born and raised in South-Central Texas, I know what good Tex-Mex food is. This Big’un Burrito is great. Unbeknownst to me I was taking a little bit of San Antonio into the central mountains Of Idaho.

I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. Filling and very tasty! Of course I will be taking this along on all of my future backpacking trips.

Great job Packit family...thank you and keep up the great work!

Another vote for this tasty, filling meal. On a recent trip to Emigrant Wilderness I substituted the Big’un Burrito meal for our traditional burrito night and it was enthusiastically received by all seven backpackers! You can definitely fill two tortillas with a single bag. Melting a bit of shredded cheese on the tortillas first took this up a notch higher. If you don’t have the cook in cozy you can use a hard foam sleep pad to keep em hot while they rehydrate. Also, no refried bean nightmare clean up!! Keeper.

An Incredible Meal and an Incredible Company

I cannot say enough good things about Pack-It-Gourmet--and I never leave positive reviews.

These fajitas were possibly the most delicious trail meals I've ever had. Not only that, I mentioned in my order that I was leaving soon for a trip, and they emailed me right back--saying they'd process the order ASAP. Sure enough, the order was shipped within an hour.

Buy it! You won't be disappointed!

These were really good, didn't really notice the chicken but the overall flavor was tasty and satisfying. I omitted the hot sauce. Will definitely add this to my 'keeper' meal list.

This is one of my favorite trail meals. Incredibly easy to make and it tastes amazing. So simple to make in the field. It's always in my backpack.

Just taste tested this at home. Very good! Very tasty and well mixed. It definitely tasted like real food hahaha! It filled up three regular sized tortillas nicely. I'm a big eater so I ate all three. Very delicious!

Fantastic. These were so good. Lots of good flavor.

Very good. Great flavor but there was a conflict on the package regarding the amount of water needed. One section stated 6 oz, but the step by step directions state 5oz. We used 5oz and it really could have used a little over 6oz. Still tasted yummy, though.

This is my 2nd favorite trail meal - a close 2nd to their All American Burger. I am a bigger guy and find that this is the perfect amount of food for me to make 2 medium to plus sized burrito wraps which fill me up rather well. I will especially save this meal for nights when I know I am not going to get to eat dinner till very late when I am super tired and just need a tasty meal in my belly with no cooking. It is so easy to prepare. We have been taking a small piece of chicken wire with the corners folder back (to not tear our packs) and then roast the tortillas on this over our stove as an added treat. After making just one you will figure out the exact amount of water needed by just eyeballing it.

This flavor-packed, gluten-conscious dish made our tasters very happy campers. With a mix of chicken, black beans, brown rice, roasted corn, jack and cheddar cheeses and savory Southwest spices, it makes a perfect filling for trail burritos, tacos or pitas (BYO bread). Each 9-ounce serving provides a well-rounded amount of calories, carbs and protein, with an extra boost of potassium.

Packit Gourmet makes an insane variety of foods, from cold-water-prep lunches to sharable appetizers (trailside queso, anyone?). It has some inventive dinner options, but we like the Big’Un Burrito with Fajita Chicken because it’s laden with chicken, black beans, and rice and cooks in the bag. Bring your own tortillas and you’ve got a burrito to go. There’s even a sachet of Cholula hot sauce in the package.

This was one of the first entrees we tested on our annual Editors' Choice trip, and it set the bar - high. Stuffed with black beans, brown rice, veggies and cheese, "the Big'un is filling and tastes like something you'd make fresh at home," one tester says.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a Cook–in–Cozy™ recommended?

We recommend that all of our hot meals spend time "steep-cooking" while snuggled in a Cook-in-Cozy. We find this method promotes a more consistent temperature and steady cook time for Cook-in-Bag preparation; and results in a better serving temperature for your meal. When not in use, our Cook-in-Cozy folds away nicely in your pack for storage and weighs in at only 1.4oz.
