This flavor-packed, gluten-conscious dish made our tasters very happy campers. With a mix of chicken, black beans, brown rice, roasted corn, jack and cheddar cheeses and savory Southwest spices, it makes a perfect filling for trail burritos, tacos or pitas (BYO bread). Each 9-ounce serving provides a well-rounded amount of calories, carbs and protein, with an extra boost of potassium.

Packit Gourmet makes an insane variety of foods, from cold-water-prep lunches to sharable appetizers (trailside queso, anyone?). It has some inventive dinner options, but we like the Big’Un Burrito with Fajita Chicken because it’s laden with chicken, black beans, and rice and cooks in the bag. Bring your own tortillas and you’ve got a burrito to go. There’s even a sachet of Cholula hot sauce in the package.

This was one of the first entrees we tested on our annual Editors' Choice trip, and it set the bar - high. Stuffed with black beans, brown rice, veggies and cheese, "the Big'un is filling and tastes like something you'd make fresh at home," one tester says.

We recommend that all of our hot meals spend time "steep-cooking™" while snuggled in a Cook-in-Cozy™. We find this method promotes a more consistent temperature and steady cook time for Cook-in-Bag™ preparation; and results in a better serving temperature for your meal. When not in use, our Cook-in-Cozy™ folds away nicely in your pack for storage and weighs in at only 1.4oz.
Fantastic. These were so good. Lots of good flavor.
Very good. Great flavor but there was a conflict on the package regarding the amount of water needed. One section stated 6 oz, but the step by step directions state 5oz. We used 5oz and it really could have used a little over 6oz. Still tasted yummy, though.
This is my 2nd favorite trail meal - a close 2nd to their All American Burger. I am a bigger guy and find that this is the perfect amount of food for me to make 2 medium to plus sized burrito wraps which fill me up rather well. I will especially save this meal for nights when I know I am not going to get to eat dinner till very late when I am super tired and just need a tasty meal in my belly with no cooking. It is so easy to prepare. We have been taking a small piece of chicken wire with the corners folder back (to not tear our packs) and then roast the tortillas on this over our stove as an added treat. After making just one you will figure out the exact amount of water needed by just eyeballing it.
just add water
