But what exactly are Toastees?

Living in the South, we eat cornbread with many, many meals and we were not willing to give up some of our favorite pairings in the backcountry. To satisfy our cornbread cravings, we developed a Cornbread Toastee which brings all of the flavor of fresh-baked cornbread to the outdoors.

We offer the choice of including a packet of Cornbread Toastees with many of our Southern meals including ‘The Big Easy’ Gumbo, Dottie’s Chicken & Dumplings and Zydeco Red Beans & Rice. Smother your Toastees in gravy for a moist bite of cornbread with your meal or eat them crunchy – your choice.

Our Cornbread Toastees are mixed, baked and cut by hand resulting in a Toastee that’s so tasty, we often end up eating them as a snack!

Backcountry desserts are often puddings and other easy to mix items. While these are super-tasty choices, we missed the taste and texture of cake we take for granted at home!

But what if you don’t have the time or inclination to bake in the backcountry? Our answer to that age-old question is our sweet vanilla Toastees!

In several of our dessert offerings, we take traditional shortcake up a notch with with the inclusion of our own sweet Dessert Toastees! Served smothered in sweet custard, their moist cakie goodness works as the perfect ending (or beginning) to a day on the trail!
