The Secret To Superfoods


Superfoods make it easier to get the nutrients that your body needs. These are foods that nature has loaded with nutritional necessities, all combined into one neat little package. They are packed with the big three for optimal health -- antioxidants, nutrients and fiber.




Antioxidants help to protect the body against wear and tear, strengthen the immune system and help to protect your muscles, bones and skin. They help to stabilize cell damaging free radicals that form as we use energy and as we age. The more antioxidants that we have in our bodies the less damage we’ll sustain from free radicals.



Nutrients included in superfoods are the vitamins and minerals that tend to be lacking in most American’s diets such as vitamins A, C and B folate and the minerals magnesium and potassium, among others. Some superfoods may also contain protein, good carbs, which digest slowly, and healthy fats like omega-3s and GLA (gamma-linolenic acid).



Fiber aids in digestion, improves the absorption of nutrients, increases the effectiveness of insulin and helps you feel full while also decreasing the risk of certain diseases. A diet high in fiber will help you maintain healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
