SO EASY to make and SO FAST! We had the mesquite smoked, made it on a hike in the woods and it was just perfect. Highly recommended.

I tried the mesquite smoked and the asian curried recipes. Both were quick and turned out great on a couple of tortillas. The mesquite smoked chicken salad doesn't have an overpowering mesquite flavor, very mild. The curried has a more noticeable taste, plus it's yellow when it's all mixed. I made these on a snowboard trip, with cold water from a sigg bottle halfway down the mountain in the woods. Good lunch without paying resort prices!

Our group loved the chicken salad when the wind blew and rain threatened one day on the trail. Easy to make while huddled under a tarp -- the Mesquite Smoked especially brought rave reviews.

This came as a 2 person serving and I decided to make the entire thing and save what I didn't eat for dinner. I ate this and the cheese spread for lunch. I had about a third left over that I ate as an appetizer before dinner.

Preparation: The prep was simple. Great for backpacking. Add water, a pack of ranch dressing, two packets of mayonnaise, stir it up and let it sit for 5 minutes. It was very filling.

Taste: The taste was very good with a definite smoky flavor. Other than a few crunchy bits of chicken that didn't rehydrate enough it was satisfying.

Although this was billed as two servings, I ate it all at once for a very filling lunch. It had a very slight Cajun flavor and was slightly sweet from the cranberries - a nice bonus flavor. For my taste, it needed a bit of salt. Once again the mayonnaise in the small packets had separated but, since it was to be mixed in with the chicken, I didn't mind.

I made the chicken in the provided pouch. I added water to just below the top of the mix, but it still came out a little soupy. My fingers got oily even with the regular length serving spoon I used. A very long spoon is needed to keep fingers clean. The pouch made a nice garbage container for the messy leftovers (two mayo packets and one ranch dressing packet).

The Cajun Ranch was so yummy! The perfect lunch on the trail with torillas or flatbread. I split the mix into two ziploc bags and had it for lunch two days in a row. It was plenty.
