Meals that call for rehydrating in the bag, should be placed in a Cook-In Cozy or other insulating device to trap the heat and speed the rehydration process.
We like Nalgene because it’s sturdy and includes measurement lines on the bottle. Regardless of which type of water bottle you choose, be sure to test it for leaks before your trip!

Rope is essential and can be used as a clothesline, as extra help for a steep climb or to hoist your food up into a tree to keep it away from bears.
If you used a pot to cook your meal rather than cooking in the pouch, you can use the exterior pouch as a pitcher for mixing instant drinks so that you don’t have to contaminate your water bottle.
